An Area History
The Southwest Florida area including Lee, Charlotte and Hendry County is one of diverse histories. The inland area of Hendry county boasted predominantly an agricultural based economy with an emphasis on food crops and the famous Florida citrus products alongside a large cattle raising industry. The coastline areas of Lee and Charlotte County had their share of agriculture as well, but have always hearkened to the crowds of northerners who sought a warm respite from the frigid winters back home.
The Southwest Florida Area Today
Although Fort Myers was well represented in the tourist destinations, it wasn’t until Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda and Cape Coral were developed in the late 1950’s that much of the working class discovered a place where affordable vacationing and retirement living could become a reality. At 114 square miles, the Cape Coral area is unique in its offering of both fresh water canal homesites and fantastic gulf access waterway homesites, and to this day still offers waterfront living at incredible values when compared to much of the rest of Florida. The Southwest Florida location ensures warm winters and summers moderated by the gulf shore breezes. Couple all this with the abundance of golf, tennis and nearby beaches and in short, it’s no wonder the area is referred to as Simply Paradise!!
Paradise Found!
Although the area has been discovered by people from all over the world, Southwest Florida remains a great place to visit, retire and as more people are discovering, it’s also a great place to raise a family. For a complete Relocation Package contact us today!
